FREDERICK, MD, May 2, 2006 – For millions around the country, the first Saturday in May means the Kentucky Derby (www.KentuckyDerby.com) at Churchill Downs in Louisville. This year, when the first jewel in racing’s Triple Crown is run on May 6th, Signature Special Event Services – North America’s leading full-service event rental company serving corporate, social and sports events – will be making the day even more special for many of the nearly 150,000 racing fans and mint julep sippers in attendance. “The Kentucky Derby IS horse racing, and probably THE best known horse race in the U.S. and, for most, around the world," said Tom Brown, president of Signature Special Events. “Signature is absolutely thrilled to be taking part in the Derby as well as the Belmont Stakes and the Preakness again this year.” The 132nd Kentucky Derby will be run on May 6th, and Signature, Brown promises, “will be ready for the festivities before and after the race.” Signature Special Events will be erecting structures, canopies and a double-decker tent covering 120,000-square feet, and will lay some 70,000-square feet of flooring. In addition, Signature will provide air conditioning and mobile kitchen facilities for its tents, which will be part of the Kentucky Derby Marquee Village, including 39 separate tent structures, the double-decker tent Trackside Village, and the Kentucky Derby Museum Gala, held annually on the infield at Churchill Downs. “There are many events held annually where Signature Special Events takes part,” Brown said. “But there is only one Kentucky Derby . . . an event that started in 1875 and has been making history ever since. Signature is very proud to be part of the hospitality and festivities that makes the Kentucky Derby a unique and world-class event.” Photos available at:
