Signature Special Event Services Hires Academy Tent National Event Team
Headed By Industry Veteran Cathy Montez
Experienced Team Positioned to Lead Growth of Major Client Relationships
FREDERICK, MD – April 1, 2004 – Signature Special Event Services

North America’s leading full-service event rental company, today announced the
hiring of a nationally recognized tent event team to be headed by industry
veteran Cathy Montez. She has more than 22 years of experience in the special
events industry. Effective immediately, Ms. Montez is Vice President, Director
of National Events.
Montez and her team are responsible for national client relationships and event
operations. They come to Signature Special Event Services from Los Angeles-based
Academy Tent & Canvas. Academy surprised the special events industry when it
unexpectedly shut its doors in February.

In addition to Montez, senior-level team members include Martin Munoz as Lead
Project Manager with more than 21 years experience in the tent event industry,
Bob Young who will lead National Event Logistics with 25 years direct experience
and Judy Montoya as Senior Account Executive with more than 13 years industry
experience. Numerous other support personnel from the former Academy team were
also hired. The team’s credentials include premier event projects such as the
Super Bowl, Winter and Summer Olympics and The Ryder Cup.
Signature Special Event Services is moving quickly to minimize any adverse
impact to clients caused by Academy’s withdraw from the marketplace. Along with
hiring Montez and her team, they have acquired Academy’s entire tent rental
inventory. Additional related efforts are underway.
